Rev. Johnathan S. Hill

Rev. Johnathan S. Hill is a third-generation Baptist preacher following in the legacy of his paternal grandfather and father. He accepted Christ at the age of 8 years old and was baptized at the Providence #2 Baptist Church and then transferred his membership to the Fairview Baptist Church both in Ethel, LA. During his tenure at Fairview, he served as an usher, musician, taught Sunday School and Bible Study, served as one of the leaders of CHOSEN GENERATION, led the church’s A/V ministry and was the youngest deacon ordained at the age of 16 years old.


In May of 2017, he accepted his call to preach the gospel and was licensed at the Fairview Baptist Church. His first sermon was from Ezekiel 37 entitled “Preach the Word.” He then served as the Assistant/Executive Pastor of the Fairview Baptist Church. He has been afforded the opportunity to speak and teach across the nation. On Sunday, January 10, 2021, he was elected to serve as the Pastor of the Evergreen Baptist Church. He was ordained and installed as Pastor on Sunday, March 7, 2021.


Rev. Hill is a 2003 graduate of Capitol High School, Spring 2008 graduate of the Southern University A&M College with a Bachelor of Science in Business Management and minor in Political Science, Spring 2016 graduate of Luther Rice College & Seminary with a Master of Arts in Ministry and currently a Ph.D. Candidate in Organizational Leadership at Regent University with a concentration in ecclesial (church) leadership.


In the community, he is a member of various organizations such as: Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc., Capitol High School Alumni Association, East Feliciana Ministers Conference, Jno G. Lewis Jr. #261 Masonic Lodge, National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP), National Organization of Black Law Enforcement Executives (NOBLE), Southern University Alumni Federation, and Southern University Alumni Home Chapter.


Additionally, he serves on various boards such as the Baton Rouge Recreation (BREC) Human Resources Committee, Capital Area Transit System, Imagination Leads, MetroMorphoisis, Inc., and the Urban Leadership Development Initiative Alumni Network. He has participated in the following leadership programs: Forum 225 Barton Leadership Program, Louisiana Association for Non-profit Organizations Community Leaders, Urban Leadership Development Initiative, Leadership Baton Rouge, and the Southern University Alumni Federation National Leadership Academy.


He is the son of the late Pastor Yoyo Hill & Marilyn Hill, he has one son, Kaden Commodore and is engaged to the dynamic Ellen C. McKnight.


He lives by the mantra, “Excellence is the standard, not an option.”
